Building in the alpine region means steep slopes, extreme weather, and challenging logistics. This is precisely the specialty of the Institute for Building in Alpine Regions (IBAR) at FH Graubünden.
In the Bachelor’s programs in Architecture and Civil Engineering, students learn how to plan and implement complex construction projects in the mountains—skills that are in demand worldwide. At the same time, the institute conducts research on townscape development, alpine infrastructure, and natural hazards.

The Climate Change, Extremes and Natural Hazards Research Centre (CERC) develops practical solutions for how alpine regions can better cope with the impacts of climate change, extreme events, and natural hazards.
